Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah, widely called BELA is a corporate and commercial law firm in Ghana established in 1990 by Kojo Bentsi-Enchill. (“BELA”) is a leading corporate and commercial law firm in Ghana with broad expertise and experience in providing first-rate legal services for international and local corporations in all sectors of the economy. The firm currently has Seth Asante and Frank Nimako Akowuah as its joint department heads.

KOJO BENTSI-ENCHILL
Senior Partner
Head, Energy & Natural Resources
Kojo Bentsi-Enchill is the Senior Partner and Head of the Energy and Natural Resources Practice Group of the firm. He has for many years led much of the firm’s work on oil and gas, power and mining.
Kojo has broad experience in mining and energy issues, corporate transactions and their related security arrangements. He has unrivalled local knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting the mining and energy sectors in Ghana. Kojo has worked on several marquee deals on the Ghanaian market and is a highly regarded corporate lawyer both in Ghana and abroad and has a passionate commitment to providing commercial solutions to client concerns.
Kojo graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon with LL.B. in 1973; Ghana Law School (QCL.,1975). He did Post Graduate Research on Mining Concessions Law, 1874 -1962 at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he was awarded the J. Donaldson Bye-Fellowship, 1978-1979. After Cambridge, Kojo worked as an Assistant Program Officer in the International Human Rights at the Ford Foundation, New York between 1982-1984. He then worked as a Foreign Associate with Shearman & Sterling, LLP, and New York from 1984 -1986, he worked in teams involved in international LNG arbitration, and then bank finance. Kojo returned to Ghana in 1988 and set up the firm, which has grown to 8 Partners and 35 Associates.
Kojo’s personal focus is on (a) his wife and 3 children; (b) reading socio-political stuff, (c) researching Ghana legal history; (d) playing, or rather trying to play, classical piano music, and (e) watching terrible action movies.
ACE ANAN ANKOMAH

Ace Anan Ankomah is the Managing Partner and Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice group. He leads a strongly dedicated team of lawyers who are committed to excellence, diligence and hard work. He has 23 years’ experience in legal practice.
Aside his work as a lawyer, Ace manages the affairs of the firm assiduously, ensuring that every department is functioning for the continuous development of the firm and society. His skills as manager and administrator have jointly contributed towards the high rankings the firm has attained in both local and international circles.
Ace is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. He has served on the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, and as the Regional Vice-Chair for Europe/Middle East/Africa of the Lex Mundi Managing Partners Committee. He has also worked as the General Manager of the Data Centa Limited, a subsidiary of our firm. In addition, Ace has served on various boards and advisory committees nationwide.
DIVINE KWAKU DUWOSE LETSA
Partner/Head, Construction, Infrastructure & Transport
Divine Kwaku Duwose Letsa is a Partner and Head of the Construction, Infrastructure & Transport (“CIT”) practice Group of the firm. Prior to becoming head of CIT, he was head of the Commercial and Property Team as well as dispute resolution and in that capacity worked on a large number of matters.
Divine undertakes broad range of corporate and commercial work. He advises extensively on shipping, maritime, aviation, insurance, general & specific due diligence, construction and real estate transactions, project finance, negotiation and drafting of documents, contract administration and legal advice. Divine is a specialist in the firms Construction, Infrastructure and Transport matters and has earned praise for his due diligence. He is highly accustomed to cross border and local deals.
SETH ASANTE
Partner / Head
Financial Institutions & Capital Markets
Seth Asante is a Partner and Head of the Financial Institutions & Capital Markets (“FICM”) Practice Group of the firm. His practice focuses on banking, corporate finance, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, and private equity.
Seth graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree, in 1997 and then the Ghana School of Law in 1999. He obtained a Masters of Science in Law and Accounting at the London School of Economics in 2001. Seth joined Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah in 1999 as a trainee.
Seth has worked on several major transactions in Ghana and the West African sub-region. He has also been a lecturer in Company Law and Practice at the Ghana School of Law from 2003 to date. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
SUSAN-BARBARA ADJORKOR KUMAPLEY
Adjorkor is a Partner and the Head of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice Group of the firm. She has a background in telecommunications regulation having worked as a specialist in that area from 2005 to 2010 for Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited.
She obtained her LLB degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana. She has to her credit: the 1993 Mensah-Sarbah Award for best overall student and the 1993 Koi Obuadaban Larbi Prize for Criminal Procedure from the Ghana School of Law; an MBA in Finance and Information Management from Illinois Institute of Technology Stuart Graduate School of Business in Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America; and an LLM with honor from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.
Adjorkor lectured the International Environmental Law module of the MBA Oil and Gas Management program of Ghana Technology University College in 2011 and 2012. In September 2012, she co-lectured the legal Aspects of Computing module of the MSc Forensic Computing program at the Ghana Technology University College. She joined the law firm of Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah in October 2010 as a partner responsible for ICT and IP (now Technology, Media & Telecommunications).
Angela Gyasi
Partner
Pensions, Employment & Immigration
Angela is a Partner of the law firm of Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah and Heads the Pensions, Employment & Immigration Practice Group of the firm. Angela has over thirteen (13) years’ experience in legal practice. Angela specializes in employment, labor, pensions and immigration laws. She is described in the 2013 edition of International Financial Law Review (IFLR) as a “Rising Star”. Angela has broad experience in employment issues arising from corporate transactions, day to day advice on general employment issues and has worked on several high-value transactions for both international and local corporations.
Angela was an Assistant State Attorney at the Serious Fraud Office in the Attorney-General’s Department. She had her Pupillage at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah and rose through the ranks of an Associate, Senior Associate and a Partner.
DAAD AKWESI
Partner
Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah.
Mrs. Daad Akwesi a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. She has 13 years’ experience in legal practice and has contributed immensely.
She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. She holds an LL.B. from the University of Ghana in 2001. She then attended the Ghana Law School in 2003. She has been involved in numerous local and international trials.
She worked in 2002 as a Legal Assistant and Coordinator, Prisons Project, Legal Resources Centre, Accra. (Designed and administered questionnaires to Ghanaian prisoners in order to make recommendations towards improving these conditions. Prior to working as a legal assistant she worked in 2001 as a Field Agent for the African Society for International and Comparative Law, Accra. (Educating targeted groups like women and children about their rights under Ghanaian Law)
